Welcome to Spook Central's special "Summer of Spotlight" event. Throughout the Summer, I'll be posting Ghostbusters Cast Spotlight entries every Wednesday at Noon (Eastern). Click here to view the current schedule. Each entry in this series will showcase a cast member of the Ghostbusters franchise - Ghostbusters 1 & 2, The Real Ghostbusters, Slimer!, Extreme Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and maybe even Ghostbusters 2016 - in a role that you may not be familiar with. Maybe it will be from a long-forgotten movie, a television appearance before they were a Buster, or some really weird bit part that I'm sure they no longer include on their resume! There is a HUGE SPOILER WARNING if you read this article, as I am highly likely to go into plot details.

Many talent voice actors have been a part of the Ghostbusters franchise through The Real Ghostbusters, Slimer!, and Extreme Ghostbusters animated series. Some of these actors have also put their vocal talents on audio disc, and today I will look at three of them. First up is Frank Welker, whom you will know as the voices of Ray Stantz and Slimer on The Real Ghostbusters. In 1988, he released the album "Almost Sold Out" to the public on 12" vinyl record and cassette tape. The first half of the album was a recording of his stand-up routine, taped live at the Ice House in Pasadena, California. The other half consists of answering machine message imitations of famous celebrities and various other vocal feats. Below is a small sampling of tracks from the album.

While Frank's album was released to the public, the follow two were not. These are Demo Discs/CDs that the actors would give out to prospective employers showing off the breadth of their talents. The demo disc for Mary Kay Bergman, who voiced Banshee in the Extreme Ghostbusters episodes "Sonic Youth" and "Slimer's Sacrifice", was titled "The Good, The Bad, The Fiesty". Produced in 1999, it would be her final demo disc before her tragic death later that year. Because the remaining unused copies were (still are?) sold through her official website, only a small selection of tracks is available below.

Pat Musick, who was the voice of Janine Melnitz in Extreme Ghostbusters, had a demo disc in 2000 entitled "Musick Talks: A Life With Mike - Memoirs of a Voiceover Junkie". Pat was kind enough to provide me with the CD when I wrote to her back in 2001, and it is my honor to present the entire five-track CD to you below. You will hear some clips from Extreme Ghostbusters in a few of the tracks.
