Hi-C Ecto Cooler Returns To Stores TOMORROW!

Along with an increase in ghostly activity, a cult favorite of the '80s and '90s is making a haunting return. Hi-C Ecto Cooler, the ghoulish refreshing citrus juice drink, will be back tomorrow, May 30th, in the United States. Hi-C Ecto Cooler will be available in 6 fl oz juice boxes and 11.5 fl oz cans. The exterior of the cans turn an eerie shade of slime green when the product inside is cold. Check your favorite store (supermarkets, Target, Walmart, and the such) for availability. If they don't carry Hi-C Ecto Cooler, be sure to ask for it! Like all good things, Hi-C Ecto Cooler won't last forever. Get it before it vanishes!

The fine folks at the Coca-Cola Company sent me this really awesome Ecto Cooler promo kit, containing the drink in both 11.5 fl oz can and 6 fl oz juice box, a "Barrel-O-Slime" with green slime in it, and a dual-sided promotional card. This thing is HUGE - measures 16x10x5 inches - and looks like a giant ghost trap. Sadly, Slimer is no longer on the drink packaging. I'm kinda surprised by that since there is an image of Slimer from the new movie that I've been seeing everywhere (like on the cover of the June 2016 issue of Empire magazine). That would have made for a perfect Ecto Cooler image.

Since a lot of us who grew up on Ecto Cooler now have to watch what we eat, I thought that some of you would be interested in the nutritional facts and ingredients. First up, the 11.5 fl oz can.

And now, the 6 fl oz juice box.

While that may not look very healthy, it's actually a little bit healthier than the old recipe (1980s label, 1990s label). The ingredients lists shows that the recipe has been simplified with less junk in it. That's good. Even better, it tastes just like I remember it. It even looks and smells like I remember, too! Simply put, ECTO COOLER IS BACK!!!

Patreon-Exclusive Bonus Feature: All of my original photographs, including many unused.

You can find more images of the promotional kit and the drink itself in the reviews by Branded In The 80s, The Slime Corner, The Homicidal Homemaker, Ghostbusters News (video), and Jessica Chobot on Nerdist (video). My Publix in Clearwater doesn’t have it. In fact, the manager didn’t know what I was talking about!! He said maybe it left the Publix distribution center today. Very disappointing. I even got out my ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ cartoons out so my daughter and I can pound Ecto Cooler and watch it all day :(
I’ll check Wal Mart later today. Might have better luck there

Yeah, I don’t think it was wise of Coca-Cola to schedule the release on a U.S. national holiday. That’s assuming that it wasn’t planned to be in the store’s stock by this past weekend, so they’d have it ready to put on shelves on Monday. I’ll see if I can get an answer from Coca-Cola as to whether there was a delay or not. This is, likely, their biggest product release of the year, so maybe coupling that with a national holiday lead to a problem.

I plan to check the stores near me later in the week, as I wanted to tie it in with my normal food shopping schedule.

By the way, please keep the language a little cleaner. I replaced a couple words in the two comments above to something a little more PG :-)

Its all gone everywhere. It was at Walmart online and sold out, Amazon as a Prime day promotion but you could only get one-sold out yesterday, Shoprite on line-Limit 2 and sold out yesterday. Stop and Shop on line sold out. I don’t think it made it to the actual stores.

I am so psyched that Ecto-Cooler is back. It was my absolute favorite beverage when I was a kid.

Finding this drink was a goal of mine back in 2016, but every attempt to find it failed. It wasn’t in the Meijer in my neighborhood despite being listed on the official site.

Really hope this drink comes back for Afterlife (like the original, reboot, or hoax versions of the drink) so I can finally see if people were right about it bein’ good.

I know the feeling, Gianni. I could never find Ecto Cooler at any of the stores here on Long Island, NY, either. The only Ecto Cooler I ever got back in 2016 were these in the promo kit from Coca-Cola and a couple at the BBQ Films event.
