In honor of the Ghostbusters 30th anniversary, Spook Central has five sets of Ghostbusters 1 & 2 individual Blu-rays to offer as prizes to five lucky winners. Each raffle ticket costs a mere $3.40 ($3.00 goes to the raffle pot, $0.40 goes to PayPal), and to be fair, I'm limiting it to ONE TICKET PER PERSON, WITH A U.S. PAYPAL MAILING ADDRESS ONLY. (If you live outside the U.S., please don't buy a raffle ticket as you won't be eligible for the raffle. Your money will be refunded, minus the PayPal portion.)

THE RAFFLE IS NOW CLOSED

$3.40 per ticket, limit one per person, U.S. residents only

The raffle ends on October 26, 2014, and the winners will be announced on October 31, 2014 when Spook Central presents its annual Halloween Treat.

In the past, I've done several giveaways/contests, and I almost always had to pay out of my own pocket to ship items to the winners. I don't have records, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that I paid over $100 out of pocket on postage for all of the contests combined. I can no longer afford to pay to ship out freebies to other people. I'm hoping that enough people will buy tickets so that the raffle pot will be large enough to pay for the postage on all of the prizes. That way I don't have to pay to ship out prizes, and winners will get TWO brand new Blu-rays for a mere $3.40. Each prize pack is valued at $39.98 (MSRP of $19.98 per Blu-ray).

OFFICIAL RULES
The "Spook Central Halloween Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray Raffle" (hereafter referred to as "the raffle") starts on 10/12/2014 and ends on 10/26/2014. The contest is open only to legal residents of the United States, who have valid accounts on PayPal.com. Limit one ticket per person and/or PayPal account. Each ticket costs $3.40, payable only via PayPal, with $3.00 going to the raffle pot and $0.40 going to PayPal for their fee. Tickets are non-refundable. Any additional ticket purchases, and ticket purchases from non-U.S. residents, will be discarded (only these tickets will be refunded, minus the PayPal portion). If you don't win, you don't get your money back. Any money in the raffle pot left over after all postage is paid for will be considered donations to Spook Central and the Rudoff Family Relief Fund.

Winners will be chosen at random using The Hat random name-selection software. Winners will be notified via e-mail, and asked to confirm their mailing address in a timely manner. If a winner does not reply within three business days, they will forfeit the prize and it will be given to someone else via another random selection. Prizes will be mailed out once all winners confirm their mailing addresses. All information provided by entrants will not be sold, given away, or used for any other purpose than for this contest - though a winners list *may* be posted after the contest has ended.

No prize substitution or cash redemption allowed by a prize winner. If awarded, prizes will be awarded without any warranty of any kind. Odds of winning a prize depends on the total number of eligible entries received. All federal, state and local tax liabilities, if any, are the responsibility of the winners. Spook Central/Paul Rudoff shall not be responsible or liable for entries that are entered by other than human means (such as by an automated computer program or any non-human mechanism, entity, or device), in excess of the stated limit, or for entries that are late, forged, destroyed, lost, misplaced, stolen, misdirected, tampered with, incomplete, deleted, damaged, garbled, or otherwise not in compliance with the official rules, and all such entries will be disqualified.

By entering the contest, each entrant agrees: (i) to be bound by these official rules and by all applicable laws and decisions of Spook Central/Paul Rudoff which shall be binding and final; (ii) to waive all of his/her rights to bring any claim, action, or proceeding against Spook Central/Paul Rudoff in connection with the Giveaway.

See, even Janine is thrilled - and she doesn't excite easily... unless Egon is around.

It was pretty much a year ago that Spook Central was put into a hiatus state due to Hurricane Sandy, and I feel that it's time it was brought back to life MWAHAHAHA! Even though I'm not where I should be in regards to having a new computer, all of the new Spook Central staff are capable of posting to the site, so there's no reason that the site needs to stay dormant (or be relegated to just hurricane-related posts) just because of me.

Yes, Spook Central now has a staff.

Staff of Ra

No, not that staff. THIS staff: Matthew Jordan, Raffaele Ruffaldi, and Doreen Mulman. All are long-time, respected members of the Ghostbusters online community whom I've been friends with for quite a while, and who have helped me and Spook Central over the years. You can read more about them on the Spook Central Staff page.

All three of these fine young eggs will post articles here or on the Spook Central Facebook page as often or as little as they feel the need to. Pre-hurricane, I certainly wasn't making daily posts. Heck, I wasn't necessarily making weekly posts, either. Even if any of them posts once a month, or once every few months, it'll be a lot more often than I have this past year.

In fact, if you've been regularly visiting the Spook Central Facebook page over the past year, you would have already seen a lot of posts from Matthew about the IDW comic book series, and all of the latest important happenings in the world of Ghostbusters. The Spook Central Facebook page WILL have more activity than this blog because there are some things more suited to Facebook than the blog. So if you're not following the Spook Central Facebook page you're missing out on a lot of cool stuff!

I can't promise you that you'll start seeing new Ghostbusters content starting tomorrow. Right now Matthew and Doreen have their own computer problems that they need to take care of before they can begin writing articles here. That said, I felt that it was about time I officially opened the door, so when we each have our issues resolved, we can walk right in and give you the Ghostbusters goodness you've come to know and love from Spook Central since August 1996.

As of right now, there shouldn't be any more Hurricane Sandy-related posts from me, though I will update the Salvaging Project, Computer Recovery, and East Rockaway House posts as needed until each of those matters are finished with. For the time being, you'll find links to all of the hurricane stuff in the small infobox near the top right corner of this blog.

Halloween Treats

THE HALLOWEEN 2013 TREAT
When Spook Central was put into a hiatus state a year ago, the last Ghostbusters "thing" added to the site was the Making Ghostbusters eBook PDF. It was meant to go up on Halloween 2012 as a special treat, but the hurricane had other plans. It ended up being added to the site in my absence a week later. Thankfully, this year's Halloween treat eBook PDF *IS* being given out on Halloween...and here it is:

Ghostbusters II Novel

As part of the Ghostbusters PDF eBook Preservation Project, the Ghostbusters II novel by Ed Naha has been preserved and can be found on the Ghostbusters II Books page. Major thanks to Matthew Jordan for scanning in the book, cleaning it up, and making the digital preservation possible - especially in light of the computer problems he's been having lately. A gallery of the book's images can be found on the Spook Central Facebook page.

Spook Central On Hiatus / Spook Central Halloween Treat - Making Ghostbusters PDF eBook

Last updated on November 11, 2012. Please check the blog post "Updates on Paul since November 16th and onward" for further updates.

Spook Central On Hiatus
Hey Everyone. Paul here writing in from the Red Cross emergency shelter at Nassau Community College on storm-ravaged Long Island, New York. If you're not already aware, my family was evacuated from our little house in East Rockaway on the morning of October 29th when the water from the canal across the street was already up to the top step on the porch... and the storm hadn't even come yet!

With the help of my friends, and new Spook Central staff members, Doreen Mulman, Raffaele Ruffaldi, and Matthew Jordan, I have been working on getting the site to be somewhat updated in my absence. I can only do so much from a tiny little iPod Touch. The special Halloween treat is now on the site, and I'm working on getting Matt to continue updating the Spook Central Facebook page, so that we can continue to bring you some new Ghostbusters news and multimedia. It'll be a while before I'll have a permanent place to live again and personal belongings again (the flood waters destroyed damn near everything, including my desktop computer) so this will be the last Spook Central blog post for a while. Keep following Spook Central on Facebook for updates (hopefully).

Now here's new Spook Central staff member Matthew Jordan (aka DevilManOzzy from the Ghostbusters Wiki) to tell you more about what I've been going through, and to give you the link to the special Halloween treat...

Updates on Paul
Filling in today on Paul's behalf is Matthew Jordan. We have some good news and some bad news.

The Bad News
The bad news came in the form of Hurricane Sandy, which flooded Paul's house. The image above shows the waters coming up to his steps on the 29th. Here is the timeline of events from Paul's postings on Facebook:
