This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX Rave Reviews Press Release

Permalink Jul. 7, 2011 at 4:36 PM , Categories: GB1, DVD
Hustler just sent along this press release which gives a sampling of some of the rave reviews the movie has received. It even quotes my review and Ghostbusters News's review, which is really cool. Originally it mistakenly attributed my site as being at SpookCentral.com, which is a domain name I don't have (unfortunately) and never used. With Hustler's permission, I changed it to read SpookCentral.tk in the press release posted below.

If you haven't already nabbed the free This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX goodies Hustler has given me to give away to everyone, go get some now. And, of course, if you haven't already purchased your copy of This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX on 3D Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack, you can get it at Adult DVD Marketplace and Adult DVD Empire.
This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX Parody Receives Rave Reviews!

(Canoga Park, CA) - Thursday, July 7th, 2011 - Just over a month has passed since the release of Hustler Video's second big 3D feature parody, This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX. Reveling in the light of rave reviews, Hustler Video has been overwhelmed by stellar reviews and cheers of accolades from the many review sites and critical eyes of their fans and the public at large.

"I have to admit that Axel Braun did a damn good job," said Ottimo Massimo of Fleshbot.com "For one, it's packing some of the best 3D imagery that I've seen in porn. Oh, and it also came with a free trading card! The special effects are both flashy and appropriate, the acting captures the spirit of the original film, and most importantly, the sex is solid."

Many Ghostbusters fan sites have also marveled at the quality of filmmaking, special effects, and especially the quality of acting coming from a group of trained adult performers.

"Let me just say that Evan Stone stole the show playing an over the top Dr. Peter Venkman," said the guys over at GhostbustersNews.com. "I have to gives kudos to Hustler on this one, as they did something that definitely wasn't easy."

"Evan Stone totally nails the character of Peter Venkman," agrees Paul, of SpookCentral.tk. "As you watch him weaselly hit on the female college student, you completely feel like you're watching the 'real' Peter Venkman."

One of the toughest critics in the adult industry, Don Houston, from XCritic.com, even handed the This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody the coveted award of being an "XCritic Pick!"

"The entertainment factor was off the scale with this one," said Houston, "Keeping in mind that even a few friends that don't like porn parodies found this one to be (and I quote) 'fucking great."

3D enthusiast and aficionado, Mark Kernes, thought that not only was the movie a stellar piece of quality filmmaking, but that the technical aspects of the 3D special effects were impressive and notable, giving the This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody a five star review!

"Beyond the terrific sex, though, we have to say a few words about the special effects, which are just fabulous," said Kernes. "Nearly all of the buildings are rendered in perfect 3D CGI...Likewise, the 3D camera work is flawless...All in all, it's a nearly perfect 3D XXX experience."

"The This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody is a hit!" said Drew Rosenfeld, Creative Director for Hustler Video. "We really showed both the mainstream and adult community what we're capable of. It's safe to say that you can expect to see a lot of high quality 3D product coming from Hustler Video."

The This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody is available now in a 3D DVD/Blu-ray combo pack.

This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX Press Release & New Release Date

Permalink May. 4, 2011 at 10:20 PM , Categories: GB1, DVD
The folks at Hustler Video just wrote in to inform me that the release date for This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX has been pushed back to May 25th, which is a week later than the original date. They also sent along the following press release.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

"This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX" Parody is Coming May 25th!

(Canoga Park, CA) - With the upcoming release of the This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody right around the corner, no one can match the enthusiasm of the talented adult performers in this Hustler Video 3D feature.

"Ghostbusters is my favorite '80s film," said Alec Knight, who plays the role of Raymond Stantz in the Hustler Video parody. "In fact, I'm such a huge fan that I commissioned myself to draw the cartoon ghost for the parody logo. I drew those two huge titties with my own hand."

"It's almost scary how much they made me look like Sigourney," said Alexis Raven, who plays the role of the spoof Dana Barrett. "I have the big '80s hair, wild makeup, and everything. I think I look just like her. Maybe I even fuck like her too!"

"What an amazing experience," exclaimed Tee Reel of his stand-out role as Winston Zeddemore and interracial performance in the This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody. "I have never been more honored to play such a coveted role. Even in the original Ghostbusters, my character stood out from the rest. I'm just carrying on the tradition and livin' the dream," he said whimsically. "Plus, you get to see me have sex with Joslyn James. Now I know how Tiger felt: f-ing amazing!"

In order to meet the incredible demand for This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody, the company has decided to push back the release date to May 25th, to ensure that all retailers will have the film in stock on the same day.

"We know how eager people are to have this spectacular film," said Rob Smith, Director of Operations for Hustler Video. "That's why we felt it was so important to push the release date back a few days and allow us to up our replication and shipping numbers to ensure that everyone can receive their copies of the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack in time. We're really excited for the public to see this 3D feature and want to make sure that the moment your favorite adult retailer opens on the 25th, you'll be able to purchase your own copy of our 3D summer blockbuster."

The This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX parody will be available in 3D DVD/Blu-ray combo pack (complete with 2 pairs of anaglyph glasses!) on May 25th!

This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX 3D Coming To DVD & Blu-Ray

Permalink Feb. 10, 2011 at 1:58 AM , Categories: GB1, DVD
[UPDATE, 4/30/2011 - The trailer, images, updated cast info, release date, and more can be found in this blog post.]

When I wrote my Ghostbusters Porn post a year ago, I didn't think there would be anything more than the two-scene no-story "movie" known as Nutbusters in terms of an actual Ghostbusters porn parody. Well, it looks like those wacky folks in Pornoland have decided to shell out the bucks to give us adult Ghostbusters fans a REAL Ghostbusters porn parody - but not a "Real Ghostbusters" porn parody, though that might be next. And get this... IT'S GONNA BE IN 3-D!!!

This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX 3D, which comes out in May 2011 from Hustler Video, was filmed using the current high-definition 3-D cameras (I'm not sure what that process is called and don't feel like looking it up), but will also be available in the old anaglyph (red-and-blue glasses) 3-D format as well. A 2-D version will also be available, according to Horror Yearbook. Looking over online front and back cover scans for Hustler's Avatar parody 3-D release, I can assume that there will be at least two releases: Blu-Ray with anaglyph 3-D and 2-D versions, and DVD with anaglyph 3-D and 2-D versions on 2-discs. Since it was filmed using the new 3-D cameras, there might be a 3-D Blu-Ray release, as is alluded to in the press release far below, but I can't say for sure. We'll just have to wait and see.

When more is known, I'll let you all know. In the meantime, below is the article from AVN that provides the cast and basic info, followed by the press release from Porn Star Babylon (which came out last November - and I'm just finding out about it now!). The cover image on the top right, which can be clicked on for the enlargement, was provided by SplitSider.

Get Slimed DVD Review

Permalink Feb. 9, 2011 at 5:13 AM , Categories: GB1, Cast & Crew, DVD

Get Slimed: The Making Of The Classic Animatronic Character is a 15-minute interview with Steve Johnson, the original designer of Onionhead (later known as Slimer) for the film Ghostbusters, in which he talks about how the classic character came into being. It was recorded in early 2009 and the original 2009 cut premiered on November 20, 2009 in three parts on Steve's YouTube channel (video embedded below), and was later shown in its entirety on a bonus DVD included with the Slimer "collectible figurine" statue. The new 2010 cut of the interview was recently released by EonEntertainment onto a DVD that also includes over 200 photos and over 40 minutes of raw behind-the-scenes video pulled from Steve's archives. It is this new 2010 DVD that I am going to be reviewing and discussing in more detail.

Site Update - The Real Ghostbusters DVD Box Set Info & Multimedia

Permalink Jan. 30, 2011 at 3:57 AM , Categories: Spook Central, RGB, DVD
My new year's resolution this year is to finally get done with projects that are long overdue to be finished. I have just made the first step in fulfilling that resolution by doing the first wave of completely documenting TimeLife's massive "The Real Ghostbusters: Complete Collection" DVD box set (still available for sale from Amazon.com). To give you an idea of how significant of a first step this was, this job was something I wanted to get done a bit over two years ago when the set first came out! So, here's the list of everything that was added, changed, or updated. Some things are abbreviated, but I think you'll figure it out.

  • RGB Commercial Bumpers - Added the list of and multimedia from all bumpers on the DVDs.

  • Slimer! Multimedia - Added the list of and multimedia from all animated episode intros on the DVDs.

  • RGB DVD Set: Main Page - Updated stats box at top and added some more notes to the Notes section. Added images (linked to the text in which I talk about my work on the set) showing my credit everywhere that it appears, include the book, all five of the featurettes, and all seven of the extended interviews. Now I've completely documented myself :-)

  • RGB DVD Set: Breakdown - Updated a few intro runtimes that were slightly off.

  • RGB DVD Set: Episode Guide Book & Liner Notes Essay - Added a scan of the front of the episode guide book, moved other stuff from main page to this new one.

  • RGB DVD Set: Packaging & Presentation - New page created. Added scans of the firehouse box. Added scans of the liners, front and back, of all five volumes; and the bonus disc sleeve. Added scans of all 25 disc faces/labels. Added all images and videos of the menu screens.

  • RGB DVD Set: Image Galleries - Added a few sample images from the different still image galleries.

  • RGB DVD Set: Episode Masters - New page created. Right now it contains all of the video duplication cards and a tiny bit of information. Eventually I'll expand it into much more detail.

  • RGB Production Artwork - Added the images that appear on the insides of the RGB DVD cases.

  • Ghostbusters Video Capture Lists - Added the info for the RGB DVD box set.

There's still much left for me to do with the RGB DVD box set, the first being to actually watch the whole thing. Then there's comparing it to episodes I have on tape and other DVDs; redoing the series opening and closing multimedia - regular and the "without text" versions on the bonus disc (images, audio, video, and maybe text transcription of the credits); redoing all RGB and Slimer multimedia; adding some multimedia for intros (maybe add text transcriptions of all), commentaries, featurettes, music and effects tracks, and maybe some bonus disc content; scan in all pages of the ep guide into a PDF; do multimedia comparisons of the slowed-down and sped-up Vol. 4 eps with the original ABC airings to show they they are not being played at the correct speed; and finally, use what few pre-release materials I have to put together a "Making of the RGB DVD Box Set" page. Obviously none of that is going to happen anytime soon. Maybe not even this year. After all, it took me over two years just to get all this done. At least you know that it's on my never-shrinking, always-growing "To Do" list.

For the most part, I need to do all of this work myself. However, if any of you have some free time on your hands and the mental capabilities to withstand some pretty tedious and boring work, there are a few items on that list you can help me out with. Needless to say, credit will be given on the site to those who help.
  1. Text transcriptions of the end credits from each season. Type up what's shown on the screen.
  2. Text transcriptions of all episode intros. Type up what each person says.
  3. Scan in all pages of the episode guide (which I'll put into a PDF, you just need to do the scanning). Whomever may want to do the scanning project needs to have a good scanner and know how to use it to get the best scan results. Poor quality scans are useless to me, as I would have to redo them myself. The pages probably don't need to be scanned in at the standard 300dpi, as 200dpi, or maybe even 150dpi would suffice (we can figure out the best dpi settings later). It needs to be large enough to read, and print-out, if someone wants to do that. You'll definitely need to crack the binding on your book in order to get all pages to lie flat on the scanner bed, so there is some risk involved. If you're careful, the pages shouldn't fall out through. I haven't tried it myself, which should be obvious, or it wouldn't be on the To Do list.
