Category: DVDUniversal & Blockbuster Sell Previously-Viewed "Rental" DVDs Promising Bonus Features That Aren't On The Disc
[Attention Spook Central Visitors - This is another one of those non-Ghostbusters posts I make from time to time. It is about a very important matter that I want people to know about. Even if you're here looking for Ghostbusters information, I implore you to continue reading this post.]
This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX Rave Reviews Press Release
Hustler just sent along this press release which gives a sampling of some of the rave reviews the movie has received. It even quotes my review and Ghostbusters News's review, which is really cool. Originally it mistakenly attributed my site as being at SpookCentral.com, which is a domain name I don't have (unfortunately) and never used. With Hustler's permission, I changed it to read SpookCentral.tk in the press release posted below.
If you haven't already nabbed the free This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX goodies Hustler has given me to give away to everyone, go get some now. When I wrote my Ghostbusters Porn post a year ago, I didn't think there would be anything more than the two-scene no-story "movie" known as Nutbusters in terms of an actual Ghostbusters porn parody. Well, it looks like those wacky folks in Pornoland have decided to shell out the bucks to give us adult Ghostbusters fans a REAL Ghostbusters porn parody - but not a "Real Ghostbusters" porn parody, though that might be next. And get this... IT'S GONNA BE IN 3-D!!! This Ain't Ghostbusters XXX 3D, which comes out in May 2011 from Hustler Video, was filmed using the current high-definition 3-D cameras (I'm not sure what that process is called and don't feel like looking it up), but will also be available in the old anaglyph (red-and-blue glasses) 3-D format as well. A 2-D version will also be available, according to Horror Yearbook. Looking over online front and back cover scans for Hustler's Avatar parody 3-D release, I can assume that there will be at least two releases: Blu-Ray with anaglyph 3-D and 2-D versions, and DVD with anaglyph 3-D and 2-D versions on 2-discs. Since it was filmed using the new 3-D cameras, there might be a 3-D Blu-Ray release, as is alluded to in the press release far below, but I can't say for sure. We'll just have to wait and see. When more is known, I'll let you all know. In the meantime, below is the article from AVN that provides the cast and basic info, followed by the press release from Porn Star Babylon (which came out last November - and I'm just finding out about it now!). The cover image on the top right, which can be clicked on for the enlargement, was provided by SplitSider. Get Slimed DVD Review![]() Get Slimed: The Making Of The Classic Animatronic Character is a 15-minute interview with Steve Johnson, the original designer of Onionhead (later known as Slimer) for the film Ghostbusters, in which he talks about how the classic character came into being. It was recorded in early 2009 and the original 2009 cut premiered on November 20, 2009 in three parts on Steve's YouTube channel (video embedded below), and was later shown in its entirety on a bonus DVD included with the Slimer "collectible figurine" statue. The new 2010 cut of the interview was recently released by EonEntertainment onto a DVD that also includes over 200 photos and over 40 minutes of raw behind-the-scenes video pulled from Steve's archives. It is this new 2010 DVD that I am going to be reviewing and discussing in more detail. Site Update - The Real Ghostbusters DVD Box Set Info & Multimedia
My new year's resolution this year is to finally get done with projects that are long overdue to be finished. I have just made the first step in fulfilling that resolution by doing the first wave of completely documenting TimeLife's massive "The Real Ghostbusters: Complete Collection" DVD box set (still available for sale from Amazon.com). To give you an idea of how significant of a first step this was, this job was something I wanted to get done a bit over two years ago when the set first came out! So, here's the list of everything that was added, changed, or updated. Some things are abbreviated, but I think you'll figure it out.
There's still much left for me to do with the RGB DVD box set, the first being to actually watch the whole thing. Then there's comparing it to episodes I have on tape and other DVDs; redoing the series opening and closing multimedia - regular and the "without text" versions on the bonus disc (images, audio, video, and maybe text transcription of the credits); redoing all RGB and Slimer multimedia; adding some multimedia for intros (maybe add text transcriptions of all), commentaries, featurettes, music and effects tracks, and maybe some bonus disc content; scan in all pages of the ep guide into a PDF; do multimedia comparisons of the slowed-down and sped-up Vol. 4 eps with the original ABC airings to show they they are not being played at the correct speed; and finally, use what few pre-release materials I have to put together a "Making of the RGB DVD Box Set" page. Obviously none of that is going to happen anytime soon. Maybe not even this year. After all, it took me over two years just to get all this done. At least you know that it's on my never-shrinking, always-growing "To Do" list. For the most part, I need to do all of this work myself. However, if any of you have some free time on your hands and the mental capabilities to withstand some pretty tedious and boring work, there are a few items on that list you can help me out with. Needless to say, credit will be given on the site to those who help.
